Living the Greek Tragedy or WWIII

Having drama embedded in my Greekness (a cheap excuse for the crazy scenario that is to follow), I keep thinking that Germany is very much in a position to screw over the rest of Europe for the third time in 100 years.

We are experiencing World War III in its contemporary version (world of course still referring to the European continent). Countries' sovereignty is still threatened. But the casualties aren't physical deaths by guns and bombs but spreading unemployment and slow psychological warfare caused by an international financial system that no one understands and no one can contain. This financial system, we are told, did some bad things.

The EU, as we know it, is at the brink of collapse. Now Greece, soon Portugal and Spain- their debt, some of it owned by other EU members and their companies, will only trigger chain reactions.

And just like the Germans during WWII lived richly from the resources of the occupied countries and suffered the post-war period because they then had to share the scarce resources available with the rest of suffering post-war Europe, similarly, having a very strong economy that benefited greatly from exporting to the Southern EU members (AKA PIGS) over the recent years, Germany is now unwilling to share its resources. Germany does not want to give money that it will eventually collect through its future exports or from the German companies that own Greek debt and will manage to collect it. By doing so, Germany is threatening to trigger effects in the Euro-zone that no one can expect and will be hard to contain.

And of course the US is once again invited to 'clean up Europe's mess' as the Americans like to say about WWII.... this time disguised as the IMF.

But hey, the birth of the EU was a way to make 'any war between France and Germany ... not merely unthinkable, but materially impossible' (French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman, May 2 1950)...

...that doesn't predict 2010 Europe... now that everyone, not just France, but the whole of the EU is a lot more sensitive to Germany's doings.

And this time, simple words that don't appease The Markets and inaction are enough to trigger a whole lotta mess....

Or maybe i'm just a drama queen with too much time in my hands
